This role is a Sr Portfolio Manager position within our Midwest Region, operating out of our Houston office. Develops, recommends, and directs execution of investment strategies for a group of ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients. Manages largest and most complex investment portfolios for UHNW accounts and/or fiduciary (irrevocable and revocable trust) accounts. With broad investment strategy authority and acting independently within established investment policy guidelines, manages large and potentially the most important UHNW client accounts. Shapes the client investment policy statement in consultation with other Abbot Downing (AD) colleagues to develop strategies around client objectives with commensurate asset allocation targets and ranges. Leverages all aspects of the investment platform for client benefit and has an advanced level of understanding of all available investment solutions including individual securities, proprietary models, pooled vehicles, third party separately managed accounts and other complementary or real asset strategies. Conducts extensive dialogue with clients around investment risk and establishing acceptable levels of risk within the portfolios and holds routine investment reviews with clients. Stays abreast of market developments, engages in firm wide investment discussions and may be enlisted to support national products, committees or strategies. Develops new business through sales/marketing efforts while leveraging key partners and opportunities. Confers with external client advisors (i.e., attorneys, accountants, etc.) and other centers of influence in their community. May act as a team leader for the investment business within their region or office. Willingness/ability/skills to help mentor and grow investment team within the office and the region.
Required Qualifications: •10+ years of investment management experience
Desired Qualifications: •A BS/BA degree or higher •Advanced Microsoft Office skills •A Master of Business Administration (MBA) •High net worth client experience •CIMA-Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, CFA-Chartered Financial Analyst or comparable professional designation
Other Desired Qualifications: •Minimum 3 years' experience managing HNW or UHNW investment portfolios •7+ years' experience in investment/securities industry •Proven ability to generate new business and maintain internal and external referral sources •Experience presenting investment updates to clients and previous involvement in client sales presentations •Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain advanced complex ideas in a format comprehensible to clients •Demonstrated collaborative and cross discipline teamwork skills •Demonstrated ability to present compelling information to sophisticated groups effectively •Knowledge of core planning, banking and alternative strategy/ products and techniques used by UHNW clients and their other advisors to facilitate holistic management of multi-generational asset pools
