M.D. Anderson Library’s Research Materials Procurement department handles purchasing and payment for library materials, and is also the home of interlibrary loan service. The department includes three units: monographs (books) purchasing and finance, interlibrary loan (ILL), and continuing resources.
Library purchasing and scholarly materials are rapidly evolving areas, and the person in this position will need the ability to adapt to changing priorities, technologies, and routines. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess a positive attitude, and be able to adapt their work style to the volume and nature of work on a given day.
Under minimal supervision, analyzes rate of return, depreciation, working capitol, investment, and financial and expense performance comparisons.
Coordinates preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial accounting and performance data and summary reports.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management.
Assist with audits by providing information requested.
Review procedures for compliance with regulations.
Maintain financial reporting systems and provide assistance.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned..
Specific duties of this position:
- Assist Head of RMP with collections budget allocations and monthly updates
- Perform duties related to annual fiscal close
- Respond to requests for collections budget information as required
- Ensure that invoices are received and paid in a timely manner
- Work with vendors to troubleshoot access issues for electronic resources
- Coordinate with other areas of technical services as required
This position is located in the M.D. Anderson Library on UH’s main campus. Hours of work are M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bachelors and 5 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
